Nature Boy Ric Flair Says The Hulkster Is Professional Wrestling’s Mount Rushmore
May 30, 2016
Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has been in the tightest of pro wrestling circles for years; a privilege that’s seen him make friends with the sport’s biggest names and legendary figures. One of those friends is Hulk Hogan himself, who has gone against Flair only a handful of times to win, lose or otherwise instigate a fight for a title belt. To the fans, it’s a matchup that holds a special place in their hearts.
To the wrestlers themselves, it’s a matchup that places two larger-than-life characters in the same circled square: a recipe for high-octane entertainment, every time.
Flair recently spoke with CBS New York in an interview that highlighted the wrestler’s thoughts on professional wrestling’s ‘Mount Rushmore’, and the Hulkster was the first name to come to mind.
“I’m just going to be straight up and down with you. In terms of notoriety, it would be Hulk, Austin, Rock, and Undertaker.
Flair admits that according to ability, he’s definitely a contender for his own spot on wrestling’s Mount Rushmore, but knows all too well his signing with the WWE came late. Flair is famous without a doubt, but the Nature Boy and his fans can’t come close to the reach of Hulkamania. When asked about his long-time friend’s recent lawsuit with Gawker Media, Nature Boy had nothing but words of support.
“Hogan and I are very close, but I don’t know enough about [the lawsuit] and I really don’t want to comment on that. But I hope he gets the money. He deserves it. He went through a lot and he’s a good guy. And he has done a lot for the sport of wrestling.”
Relive a little bit of the Nature Boy magic and check out the Hulkster battling Ric Flair at Monday Night Raw for the WWE Championship Heavyweight belt. Woooo, brother!
