It was October of 1995, and the WCW World Heavyweight title was on the line.
The energy in Joe Louis Arena was electric, with 13,000 screaming heads and the biggest names in professional wrestling getting ready to throw down. Fans were literally hopping out of their seats to get a closer look at the action, and referees were having a hard time keeping track of the match when eager spectators had to be walked out of the their uninvited ring stays.
The main event saw Hulk Hogan square off against The Giant for the World Heavyweight belt, but Hulk’s ever-excitable manager, Jimmy “Mouth of the South” Hart, set off a chain of events that would see Hogan lose his Heavyweight title and manager.
After a sneaky attack by Hart on the ring referee, Hogan was disqualified and watched on as The Giant was declared the winner by default. Adding insult to injury, The Giant attacked Hogan with a bear hug, made worse by a new contender entering the ring to assist in the takedown of the former Heavyweight champion.
The Yeti, a rare and short-lived creature of brute force, stormed the ring to wrap the Hulkster and The Giant in a compounding bear hug. Randy Savage and Lex Luger jumped into the fray to save their friend, ultimately realizing that Luger was never on their side at all…
