Detroit, Michigan has never been as loud as it was the night of October 23rd, 1994. The WCW was in town and all the little Hulkamaniacs were finishing their little Hulkster costumes, ready for something better than a bag of free candy. It was time for Halloween Havoc, but especially, it was time for the Nature Boy to go the way nature intended, and leave.
The matchup between Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair had everything riding on the line. If Hogan lost, he would be forced to retire and give up the World Heavyweight title belt. If Flair lost, his time in professional wrestling was over. What’s more, it was going to be an all out cage match, and you already know the Nature Boy was looking for ways to use it to his dirty advantage.
The match quickly got out of hand, with the Nature Boy taking shots at the Hulkster’s knees after being force fed some prime American Hulkamania. Anything goes in the cage though brother, including Mr. T storming the ring to induce a stadium wide frenzy of screaming Hulkamaniacs. The tides turned and Flair’s figure-four lock got flipped, opening the flood gates of raw Hulkamania. Nature Boy didn’t stand a chance.
This is one of those matches that sticks with you, because there’s a face at the end you can’t help but smile with. Guest presenter and all around American badass Muhammad Ali was there to hand over the title belt to the Hulkster. A true inspiration to all the Hulkamaniacs out there brother, including Hulk Hogan himself!
